๐ŸŒฟ Air-Fried Falafel with Creamy Tahini Sauce

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside these air-fried falafel patties are a healthier twist on a classic Middle Eastern favorite! ๐ŸŒโœจ Packed with plant-based protein, fresh herbs, and a kick of spice, theyโ€™re perfect for stuffing in pita, serving over salad, or dipping in that irresistible homemade tahini sauce. No deep frying needed, just pure, golden deliciousness from your air fryer! ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฅ™ Ingredients: Falafel

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas (soaked overnight in plenty of water)

  • 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley, rinsed

  • 1 bunch cilantro, rinsed

  • ยฝ medium white onion, coarsely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 1 jalapeรฑo pepper

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • ยฝ tsp ground cardamom

  • ยผ tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ยฝ tsp baking soda

  • 3 tbsp chickpea flour

๐ŸŒฟ Ingredients: Tahini Sauce

  • ยฝ cup tahini (sesame seed butter)

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ยฝ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • Cold water (to reach desired consistency)

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked chickpeas and add them to a food processor.

  2. Coarsely chop the parsley and cilantro and add to the processor.

  3. Add onion, garlic, and jalapeรฑo (remove seeds and stem).

  4. Add cumin, cardamom, black pepper, salt, baking soda, and chickpea flour.

  5. Blend for 2โ€“3 minutes, until the mixture forms a dough-like texture.

  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  7. Scoop the mixture using an ice cream scooper and form into patties.

  8. Preheat your air fryer to 450ยฐF. Line the basket with parchment paper and lightly spray with EVOO.

  9. Cook the falafel for 10 minutes, flip, then cook for 4 more minutes until golden and crispy.

  10. Serve warm with creamy tahini sauce or a squeeze of fresh lemon. ๐Ÿ‹

๐ŸŒฑ Tips & Variations

  • Freeze extra falafel balls overnight on a parchment-lined tray; store them in a zip-top bag and cook as needed.

  • Use parchment liners in your air fryer for easy cleanup.

  • Enjoy in wraps, Buddha bowls, or with a side of hummus and veggies!
