During a recent trip to Belize, I discovered chocolate in its most natural form, and now I'm hooked on cacao! My skin is absolutely glowing; I fall asleep more easily and feel rested the next day. My joints are less achy, and surprisingly, it's really helped with my IBS symptoms!

For a sweet treat, go for dark chocolate with at least 70% cacao. It’s rich, satisfying, and packed with benefits without all the extra sugar.
You can also try making homemade hot cacao for a cozy and healthy drink that’s way better than sugary hot chocolate. It’s simple, delicious, and good for you!

Preheat oven to 275 degrees
Spread beans out on a sheet pan
Roast for 5 minutes at 275, decrease to 250, and roast for 15-20 more minutes.
Let them cool and store them in a cool dry place. Do not refrigerate or freeze or you’ll spoil the beans!
Grind the beans coarsely with a coffee grinder, I pulse mine for about 2 seconds, four times for the perfect grind! Your grounds should resemble kosher salt. Overgrinding can cause a bitter and astringent flavor.
Add 2 Tbsp of ground cacao to a french press and add your favorite hot nut milk or water; I love using cashew milk because it’s the creamiest! Let it steep for at least 5 minutes. The longer, the better. I usually steep mine while doing my yoga practice, about 20-25 minutes.
Add your favorite sweet creamer to enhance the flavor of your hot cacao. I personally prefer vanilla almond milk creamer or monk fruit sweetener for the best taste!
I've been enjoying one cup in the morning and another in the afternoon, completely replacing my coffee. This change has significantly improved my IBS symptoms, and I have no intention of going back!
